A Good Number of Us Would Like a More Attractive Smile
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that attach to the fronts of the teeth to conceal cosmetic flaws. These veneers are custom made with layers of ceramic that are meticulously selected to match the color of your surrounding teeth. Porcelain veneers can last a decade or more with proper care, and porcelain is stain-resistant, to help you maintain a radiant smile for years to come. With an expert cosmetic dentist such as Dr. Casler, you can expect your veneers to look completely beautiful and natural.
Designing and Placing Your Custom Veneers
The process of designing and placing your porcelain veneers is simple and comfortable. During your initial consultation at our Tulsa office, Dr. Casler will evaluate your oral health to determine if you are a good candidate for veneers. If he finds you qualify for this cosmetic treatment, he can begin the preparation process.
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that attach to the fronts of the teeth to conceal cosmetic flaws.
To prepare your teeth for veneers, Dr. Casler will remove enough enamel to make room for the veneers. Once the teeth are prepared, he will take impressions of them. These impressions are sent to an off-site lab for the creation of your veneers. To reduce sensitivity, Dr. Casler may provide you with temporary veneers.
It can take up to two weeks for the lab to create your custom veneers. When they are ready, you will return to our office for placement. Dr. Casler will remove the temporary veneers and then apply an etching gel to the teeth, which creates a rougher surface and a greater bond. He will then spread dental cement across the backs of the veneers before pressing them firmly onto your teeth. Last, he will use a curing light to harden the cement. You will then leave our office with your beautiful new smile.
Are Porcelain Veneers Right For You?
Before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, you must have good periodontal and dental health. If you are suffering from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, gum disease, or tooth decay, Dr. Casler will address those before preparing your teeth for porcelain veneers.
This cosmetic procedure can be excellent for patients with one or more small cosmetic flaws such as:
- Unresponsive stains
- Gaps between teeth
- Mild crookedness
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
There are numerous benefits to porcelain veneers. Despite the waiting period between appointments, there is no recovery time necessary. After your veneers are in place, you can immediately enjoy your newly transformed smile. Porcelain veneers look incredibly lifelike, making them virtually undetectable from your natural teeth. Our Tulsa patients experience a whiter, straighter, more symmetrical smile that can improve self-confidence.
